Social Media Tools: Phonto for Instagram

Instagram is one of the biggest social media networks today.  Made up of just photos and short videos (and with only one link allowed and that’s on your bio page), it has taken marketing to a different level.  It has also forced people to bump up their picture taking game.  You can no longer just post a random low quality picture and expect any results.  So you might have the photo taking part down, but what if you want to add text or other details?  To make that easier I learned about a fun free app that makes editing photos and adding text easy for your Instagram work:  Phonto.

Some of my beginning efforts using Phonto have been simple, using a plain background:

My first attempt using Phonto for Instagram

I used this Instagram post to direct people to My Goals for 2016 post.  I also wanted to include a question to help get engagement with people commenting on it.  My main focus was getting people’s attention and getting my point across (plus I was just figuring out the app and wanted to keep it simple so it still looked okay).

I used this to drive traffic to my Weekend Writing Prompt: New post, which included this quote.  It’s a good quote (and people love quotes), plus a hint as to what else I include in the post.

I have a lot of ideas for how to use this app in the future, and I am sure there are many features and ways of using it that I have not touched yet.  But I wanted to let you all know about it so you can create even better content on Instagram.  Whether you are just starting out on Instagram or are looking to improve what you have been doing, I hope this tool is helpful for you.

Have you ever used Phonto?  What are you favorite tools for Instagram?  I would love to hear your thoughts in a comment below!
