Quote of the Week-“Write only what you…”

Love is in the air, but is it in your writing?  We can write all we want, about a wide variety of topics, but if we don’t actually love what we write about, then what’s the point?  Ray Bradbury emphasized this and I completely agree:

ray bradbury love quote
“Write only what you love, and love what you write. The key word is love. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for.”-Ray Bradbury

When you have to ‘work’ as a writer, often the assignments are not things that we like to write about.  Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to put food on the table.  But that does not mean that you should not aim to write about what you love or do it on your own time.  If you can eventually make a living writing about what you truly love, where your heart truly resides, all the better.  But until then, make sure to spend at least a couple minutes each day writing about what you love, perhaps in a notebook by your bed or an app on your phone, to help keep your heart soaring with what helps you get up in the morning.

Do you write about what you love?  What do you think about Bradbury’s views on the matter?
